irrational anthems / ryan dahle
The inspiration behind the artwork on Ryan Dahle's solo album and merchandise was Canadian artist Steven Shearer's cubic sculpture "Geometric Mechanotherapy Cell for Harmonic Alignment of Movements & Relations" housed in the National Art Gallery in Ottawa. Using a limited palette of yellow and black and blocks of forced justified type, we simplified the look to the bare minimum to let the artwork speak for itself. In fact, Dahle's name doesn't even appear on the front cover! Irrational from a marketing point of view, yes , but somehow it just works.
